A little insight about me

I am trained as an integrative therapist, meaning I am trained to use different counselling approaches depending on the issues presented. Over the years I have developed my approach to be quite directive in order to really bring about change. I bring myself fully to the counselling relationship and offer quite an existential approach- that of ‘we are two human beings on this journey of life- just trying to help each other learn how to live more fully along our way and rid ourselves of negative patterns which hold us back’

I’m a mother, step-mother and wife. I drink too many well-known coffee latte’s, love running to keep my head clear and visit the sea once a week for mindfulness and to connect with this wonderful world.

Not forgetting I’m a rock chick at heart and I also love cats. (A lot)

More information…

I am an Integrative Counsellor working from both the outskirts and centre of Truro, Cornwall. I offer an empathic, non-judgemental approach and am passionate about the counselling process. I believe in the power of the therapeutic relationship to bring about empowerment and change and will work with you to facilitate this.

Counselling has inspired me to reflect on my own life and to help others do the same and I believe the change brought about from therapy can be profoundly life changing.

I work with individuals and children over the age of 12, couples and have experience of working with a range of issues including:

Anxiety, depression, affairs, separation and divorce, phobias, family issues, panic attacks, GAD, sex issues, psychosis, dissociation, abortion, OCD, PTSD, anger management, sexuality, self esteem issues, unresolved childhood, relationship and marriage difficulties, family issues, spirituality, personality disorder, suicidal thoughts, physical and sexual abuse, bereavement and loss, stress, self harm, trauma and bullying.

Working as an Integrative counsellor I use my humanistic core to build a strong base of trust in the relationship then draw on ideas from other approaches depending on what best suited. I enjoy working existentially, looking at the meaning we each give to our lives and psychodynamically, linking past events and exploring their effect on the present.

I offer face to face, online, telephone and walk and talk therapy depending on the client’s needs.

Having completed level 1,2,3 and Master Practitioner in Mindfulness, I apply main principles into my therapeutic approach where appropriate.

Mindfulness can help with many things- there are huge benefits to living in a more mindful way, reduces anxiety by simply staying grounded and learning to live in the present.

I’ve a CPD in level 4 Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and achieved higher distinction and recently completed ABC certified Diploma in DBT.
